In a space that may make you feel small or unfamiliar, we have music to help ground us, help us smile, and cure our homesickness. My playlist isn’t just one style of music, it’s a plethora of emotions, beats, and genres. I chose songs from multiple different playlists on my Spotify account, but I picked the ones I always end up reaching for. I really do enjoy all types of music, and I think that will really shine through with this playlist – a little something for everyone. I made sure to bold, italicize, and star, for emphasis, the songs that really make me feel something deep down and take me back to that feeling of home.
I do enjoy newer tunes, but these songs compile my favorite memories and places that I’ve been to. From sitting in my high school library planning a backpacking trip, to the song that my sister and I never fail to belt out in car rides whenever I go and visit her in Okinawa (it’s “Birthday” by Katy Perry, by the way, and it never gets old), and some of the songs my favorite creators use for their travel videos that keep my head in the clouds.
